Rollators: All you need to know
What are rollators?
Rollators are like upgraded walkers with brakes you control with your hands. The front wheels can turn, so it's easier to go where you want. They've got bigger wheels than regular walkers, so they work well outside and on bumpy paths.
Rollators come in three types: three-wheel, four-wheel, or heavy-duty. Three-wheel rollators have one turning wheel in the front and two at the back. They're easy to move around, great for indoors, and lighter to carry. But, they don't have a seat and are not as stable as four-wheel ones. They usually come with a basket or pouch for your stuff.
Four-wheel rollators feature two turning wheels in the front and two at the back. Many of them include a comfortable seat, often padded or made of hard plastic, allowing users to take a rest. These rollators offer enhanced support and stability compared to their three-wheel counterparts. Additionally, there's typically a convenient storage basket or tote bag located under the seat.
Bariatric rollators, commonly referred to as heavy-duty rollators, boast a greater weight capacity compared to standard models. While regular rollator seats are typically around 15 inches wide, heavy-duty rollator seats are wider, usually measuring about 19 inches. Most heavy-duty rollators can support weights ranging from 400 to 500 pounds. These four-wheel rollators typically come with robust steel frames and wider seats. The wheels are generally larger and wider than those on standard rollators, ensuring solid support and preventing sinking on softer ground.
What are the types of Rollators?
01.
Type 1
All walkers are type 1, whether they have wheels or not. These are best for short-term use.
02.
Type 2
Rollators classified as Type 2 are equipped with smaller 4- to 6-inch wheels. Designed for indoor use and on even surfaces, these rollators are suitable for settings like retirement home gardens or short walks around the neighborhood.
03.
Type 3
Type 3 rollators come with larger, 8-inch wheels. These rollators offer further mobility, come with a seat, and bigger wheels.

The Walking aid is suitable for a single user with limited mobility. The Nitro Rollator is ideal for indoor and outdoor use.
Unfolding the Nitro Rollator
Position the Nitro Rollator on its wheels. Hold each hand grip and pull outward until the Nitro unlocks and opens fully.
Height adjustment
Press the red release buttons for handgrips below,
as shown in figure 3, and pull the handgrip upwards at the same time. As the handle moves, release the button. This automatically locks in the next possible height. Repeat this process until the desired height is reached.
Removing / attaching the carry bag
To remove bag, twist knobs located on the front end of the seat frame outward. Pull out knobs and slide bag out of receptacle. To replace bag, fold the Nitro Rollator slightly and reverse above steps.
Braking / locking
Pull both brake levers upwards to apply the brakes while the Nitro Rollator is moving. Always brake slowly and steady. Press both brake levers down to apply the locks while the Nitro Rollator is stationary. Pull up the brake levers and release to release the locks. The effect of the brakes can be affected by abrasion of the wheels. Regularly test the brakes
Adjustment of brakes
To adjust the braking strength, adjust the brake by pressing the screw housing downwards and then turn left or right.
Sitting
Position the Nitro Rollator on an even and solid
surface. Lock the brakes (parking position). The Nitro Rollator must stand and must not slip. Sit straight up and do not lean backwards.
